Company plans $3 billion electric plant near Sweetwater

February 19, 2008 Tenaska Inc. announced plans this morning to build a technologically advanced $3 billion coal-fueled electric generating plant near Sweetwater.
At its peak construction, the plant would provide up to 2,000 construction jobs. Once operational, it would provide more than 100 permanent jobs.
An air permit application was filed today with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, said David Fiorelli, president and CEO of Tenaska's Business Development Group, headquartered in Arlington.
The proposed plant would capture up to 90 percent of the carbon dioxide that would otherwise enter the atmosphere. The carbon dioxide would be sold for use in enhancing oil production in the Permian Basin...
