Tenaska Updates Congressman on Trailblazer Energy Center
November 6, 2008
Tenaska Manager of Business Development Helen Manroe, along with Ken Becker, the Executive Director of the Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development (SEED) and Jacque McCoy, Executive Director of the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce, met with Congressman Mike Conaway over lunch during his Oct. 31 visit to Sweetwater to brief him on the Trailblazer Energy Center.
Manroe discussed some of the economic factors that will impact Tenaska’s final decision to locate and build the project in Nolan County, including the passage of federal climate change legislation with provisions for carbon dioxide captured for use in enhanced oil recovery; awards of state incentives approved by the Texas Legislature, the availability of local incentives, and the issuance of necessary permits.
Congressman Conaway said he appreciated the update, and indicated his support for the project.

Tenaska Featured at Sweetwater Shriners Meeting
November 3, 2008
The Tenaska Trailblazer Energy Center was the featured topic at the Oct. 30 meeting of the Sweetwater Shriners. Pete Sheridan, Sweetwater attorney and president of the group, invited Tenaska Manager of Business Development Helen Manroe to speak about the project.
Members asked Manroe questions about the timeline for the project. She explained that Tenaska will not make a final decision about whether to proceed with construction on the Trailblazer Energy Center in Nolan County until mid-2009 at the earliest. Construction on the project won’t begin until late 2009 or early 2010, with peak construction anticipated between 2011 and 2012. The earliest applications for permanent employment at the Trailblazer Energy Center could be accepted is 2013 to allow time for training before projected commercial operation in 2014.
Those who spoke to Manroe said they appreciated the presentation and look forward to hearing more about the project.
